How to export a GPX file for Maramaps

Maramaps can turn a GPX route into poster art. Here are the quickest ways to get a GPX file from common running platforms.

Tip: GPX export usually works best from a desktop browser. Some apps only export FIT files from mobile. If you already connect Strava in Maramaps, you may not need a GPX file at all.

Garmin Connect

  1. Open Garmin Connect in a web browser and sign in.
  2. Go to Activities, then All Activities.
  3. Open the activity you want to use.
  4. Use the gear icon in the top-right corner.
  5. Choose Export to GPX.

If Garmin downloads a zip file, unzip it first, then upload the `.gpx` file to Maramaps.

Strava

  1. Open Strava in a web browser and sign in.
  2. Open one of your activity pages.
  3. Use the more menu, usually shown as three dots.
  4. Choose Export GPX.

Strava says GPX export is available from the Strava website. You can also connect Strava directly in Maramaps instead of exporting manually.

Apple Watch / Apple Fitness

  1. Apple does not currently provide a simple one-tap GPX export for individual Fitness workouts.
  2. The easiest route is usually to sync the workout to Strava, then export the GPX from Strava.
  3. Alternatively, use an iPhone GPX exporter app that reads workout routes from Apple Health.
  4. Apple Health can export all health data, but that is a large archive rather than a simple per-run GPX workflow.

Only outdoor workouts with route/GPS data can produce a useful GPX route.

COROS

  1. Open the COROS app and select the activity.
  2. Use the share/export arrow in the top-right corner.
  3. Select Export Data.
  4. If COROS offers FIT rather than GPX for that activity, export FIT and upload it to Strava first, then export GPX from Strava.

COROS support currently documents FIT export for manually sending activity data to third-party sites.
